Feedback wanted on new ad campaign!

All week long our loyal readers are subjected to dry, real estate realted related articles (yawn). Being a Saturday, I thought I’d liven things up a tad.

We are considering this new ad campaign and would welcome feedback and comments from any of our SoundBiteBlog readers. Especially the quiet ones. We know you are out there! The site statistics prove it! Over 50 people each day are visiting the site, reading an average of 10 articles (approx) and coming back to revisit the site 3 times each month. But only a few have been leaving comments.

Here’s your chance to jump in and speak your piece. What do you think? Is this advertising idea a winner or a dud?

Love the ad but the frog in the mouth is a little disgusting..especially when you look at it in the morning. If you put the frog on the baby’s cheek that would be much better. Where are you advertising this?

  Buckwheat wrote @ April 7th, 2007 at 11:29 am

lisaj: Thanks for the feedback! You must be one of our “stealth readers”? It is a pretty funky photo, isn’t it? If you look closely, you can see that it’s a plastic frog.

I think it is SICK, TWISTED and DISGUSTING… oh and I LOVE IT!

Sorry I have to 100% disagree with Lisa.

Advertising is supposed to CUT THRU THE NOISE!

People will stop and take a SECOND LOOK at that. And that is ONE more look then most other get.

Good Job…
Me

Craig: I knew I could count on you! By the way, your sites are looking fantastic. Who is doing your graphic design work. They have some real talent!

I totally agree with Craig - it’s genius - it’s gross - it gets your attention.
GO FOR IT!!

  Buckwheat wrote @ April 7th, 2007 at 3:33 pm

Ines: LOL, you are such a “girly” girl yet, you say “gross” and “go for it” to my decidedly edgy ad idea?

  lisaj wrote @ April 7th, 2007 at 3:55 pm

LOL yup I am a secret admirer of your blog. See, I think if you put the frog on the baby’s nose and made the the baby looking cross eyed at the frog on his nose. That that would be even more hilarious!!!

BTW, I loved your boat parking post. I read it and laughed because if I had a boat, I just know that would happen to me!

  Buckwheat wrote @ April 7th, 2007 at 4:17 pm

lisaj: I’m with ya on the nose and crossed-eyes thingy! Welcome into the light at SoundBiteBlog.

I was just prowling around your site and blog. I wish I had seen the notice about Ed Hume when it came out. Some seasons I think I spend half my paycheck at Clear Creek Nursery. I have one of their “frequent flyer” cards. We need to get some traffic sent over your way! You’ve got some good things going on on that site. Maybe we should collaborate on a traffic-drive of some sort.

Ps - Sparky wrote the Boating article. He’s kind of Evinrude-challenged!

Linda Davis wrote @ April 7th, 2007 at 7:07 pm

Cute baby but the frog is a little stiff. I think it would be much better with a real frog.

  Buckwheat wrote @ April 7th, 2007 at 7:47 pm

Linda: LOL — You are worse than I am!

  lisaj wrote @ April 7th, 2007 at 8:57 pm

Thank you for the kind words about the site. We would love some kind of collaboration. Give me a few days to come up with a plan.

The funny thing is, I had a friend of mine read this post, (yes, I am bringing more people to the frog blog because I am celebrating coming out of the frog blog closet) and Buckwheat, I was told to ask you…

”what would Sister Margaret say of this ad campaign?”

  Buckwheat wrote @ April 8th, 2007 at 4:09 am

Sister Margaret?

Apparently the internet does make the world a smaller place! That was 34 years ago (I needed a calculator to figure it out).

Tell your friend that some things never change. I got in trouble consistently in grammar schools around the country because of my pranks and the things I would say before I thought about them.

Sister Margaret would probably correct my grammar…

PS - Thanks for bringing new readers to the Frog Blog! I guess I owe you one :)

Hi, guys. I think it would be more effective to show someone having a cup of frog in the morning, maybe have your little green guy peeking over the edge of the cup. I also like lisaj’s idea of the frog on the nose of someone looking cross-eyed.

Who doesn’t need a cup of frog in the morning?

Tony Gallegos wrote @ April 9th, 2007 at 4:43 am

I think we all point people to your blog because it is by far one of the best (if not the best) consumer mortgage/real estate sites in the country! I refer my clients to it all the time.

Additionally, if a person lives in your neck of the woods/waters (my wifes favorite local in the whole country), there is also great local content.

Along with great content, the Frog Blog has great layout, graphics and humor!

This is a great ad! It is totally attention grabbing. If I saw this ad and was not familiar with your blog then there would be not other choice to go check it out what it is all about…This ad looks like a winner to me!

OH MY, I Just read the Sister Margaret comment….. LMAO…. my wonderful husband has an aunt, whose name is Margaret, and she is a Nun……. I’ll forward it to her for a real answer.

  lisaj wrote @ April 15th, 2007 at 12:19 am

Yes, it was pretty funny to hear the Sister Margaret story!

Ok, so now my friend thinks this is a joke with the baby frog advertisement…and I think you are all really doing this!

Please say this is a real ad you are really going to advertise? I need to win this bet! :)

Todd Waller wrote @ April 18th, 2007 at 1:52 pm

Holy smokes! That’s great! Thanks for the kick in the shorts for marketing/advertising creativity. This is what I’ve come to expect from fellow ‘Rainers.

  lisaj wrote @ April 24th, 2007 at 1:01 pm

And it’s WAY better than frogs in your pants..
