Extra! Extra! “Sparky & Buckwheat make front page news!”
June 19th, 2007 by Rich JacobsonOur local newspaper, the Kitsap Sun, ran a recent article for their Sunday edition on the front page, entitled ” Most Kitsap Sellers Missing Out on Trend Towards Higher Prices,” written by Steven Gardner.
Steven called me at my office and asked me for an interview. He had found me through here on SOUNDBITEBLOG.
Wow! Is that cool or what? Since I began posting articles on my blogs, I’ve been interviewed on several occasions. But this is the first time somone local has honored me with the request. And it thrills me to no end that Steven found us online through SoundBiteBlog!
Now, for those of you who don’t know, most of what you see when you access SoundBite is attributed to my esteemed colleague, Buckwheat (Mark Flanders). He created the site from scratch and fine tunes our SEO constantly. The guy is absolutely amazing. We meet for coffee every Thursday morning, and I keep hoping that some of his MOJO will pour over onto me. Even though we’ve only been up since mid-January, the amount of traffic we’re getting is incredible!
It certainly doesn’t hurt to get this kind of local exposure either. And not to mention what it does to further enhance our credibility as local real estate experts.
Yet another testimony to the power, value, and effectiveness of blogging!
Blog often, Blog Well…..

Recognition for the hard work we do is always terrific. Congratulations, you guys earned it.
“School’s out for summer… School’s out forever” Congrats on the local exposure, that is great.
Congratulations on being recognized as the local experts. The next step…Inman News and then…the Wall Street Journal. Remember us when you both get really famous. I love the crab too!
Mark and Rich,
It couldn’t happen to two better guys! Congratulations and I have a feeling it’s only the beginning.
Rich and Mark:
Congratulations on the local recognition! That can sometimes be the hardest to earn.
You have a fine blog–with lots of teeth and a nice bite. I’ll be back!
Do you honestly believe this? Kitsap is extra-super-special? The military is a moderating influence? We are a great value?
Why didn’t the military moderate the rapid price increase and building boom? Is the Navy paying 60-100% higher salaries since ‘02? What is the cause of all the building? Why is every school district (X-BI) experiencing declining enrollment? Why don’t the economic realities that are killing Ft. Myers, San Diego, Boston, Monterey, Vegas, Phoenix, as well as Spain and Australia have any interest in a one industry, middle class, rural community? How can price to income ratios in excess of 10 be considered any kind of good value? Poulsbo is overpriced, even with Bainbridge incomes. Silverdale? Even worse.
I understand ‘talking up’ your book, but good grief.
that does not surprise me at all – you guys are ON FIRE!!! and that has to be one of the prettiest crabs I have ever seen! keep up the good work, you are an inspiration to us all.
Hey, congrats guys! I just talked to someone from my BNI group today about getting into real estate blogging and told him you guys were the example of how to do it – great consumer content. I’ve referred more than a few people to Soundbiteblog because of the high quality of your posts. Keep it up!
